The Benham-class of destroyers were ten destroyers built for the United States Navy shortly before World War II. Limited to 1,500 tons displacement by the terms of the London Naval Treaty, these ships were designed in the style of the previous Gridley and Bagley-class destroyers; along with an improved high-pressure boiler system. The destroyers in this class participated in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters, where two were lost.
