The Cannon-class of escort destroyers were 72 vessels built for the United States Navy, the Free French Navy, and the Brazilian Navy during World War II. Used mostly as antisubmarine warfare escorts during the war, six of these ships were commissioned directly into the Free French Forces, and eight others went to the Brazilian Navy. After the war, vessels in this class were given to France, Greece, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Peru, the Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Uruguay.
