The Commencement Bay-class of escort carriers was the last class of escort carriers produced by the United States Navy during World War II. These carriers were built from the keel up, instead of being modified from other vessels. Commencement Bay-class carriers could carry up to 34 aircraft, but never saw major combat or air operations.
