The Douglas-manufactured B-18 "Bolo" was a medium bomber during World War II.

Description[]

Based of the DC-2, the B-18 was developed to replace the Martin B-10. Not many were used, as the majority were destroyed in the attack on Pearl Harbor or in the Philippines. The B-17's, B-24's, and B-25's took the B-18's place in combat, with the surviving examples relegated to anti-submarine, transport and training duties. A B-18 was one of the first American aircraft to sink a German U-boat, U-654, in the Caribbean on 22 August 1942.

A number were used by the Royal Canadian Air Force, as the Digby, and by the Brazilian Air Force.

Refinements to the design led to development of the B-23 Dragon.
