Europe is a continent that contained many of the warring nations such as Germany and France that fought during World War II. Europe was at the same time often a battleground during the war. By the end of the war, much of Europe had been destroyed, namely Germany which had been bombed into submission by Allied bombers such as the B-17 or Lancaster. However, Allied countries like Great Britain had also suffered, mainly at the hands of the German Blitz campaign and at the launching of thousands of V-2 cruise missiles that had killed many civilians.
