The Kraftfahrzeug 11, or Kfz 11, was a military car used by Germany during World War II. Manufactured by Steyr Motoren Werke, Austria, it's primary uses were as staff cars, command cars, squad cars and light artillery tractors. The Kfz 11 was also used by the German police and the SS.

Description[]

The Kfz 11 started out as the Auto-Union/Horch Typ 830 commercial car. In the 1920s and 1930s several different bodies were tried. Early models had the body made from wood, but this was later replaced by sheet metal doors, with a canvas cover for over the driver and passengers.

Fitted with rear wheel drive, the Kfz 11 was outfitted with large tires to improve its cross country capabilities. It was 4.8 meters long, 1.8 meters wide, and 1.85 meters high, and weighed 990 kilograms. The Kfz 11 had a 70 hp Horch V-8 engine and a top speed of 75.4 km/h.[1]
