The Pattern 1914 Enfield (Abbreviated P14) was a British service rifle developed in 1914.

Rifle Pattern 1914 Enfield - AM.006960

Description[]

The P14 Rifle fired .303 in (8mm) and developed to accompany and possibly replace the older Lee Enfield, however, production problems as well it's vulnerability to mud meant that it was not able to be used in mass numbers during World War I, nor become the main British Service rifle.

Its design later influenced the more-successful M1917 Enfield.

Use in World War II[]

At the onset of World War II, the United States was didn't have enough M1 rifles to supplement the army, meaning that rifles like the M1903 Springfield still saw some service in the early stages of WWII, including the P14 Rifle.

Eventually, the M1 Garand phased out the P14 Rifle as one of the United States service rifles, however it still saw service as a sniper rifle until 1947 when the P14 was considered obsolete and as such completely phased out of both US and Britsh service, but still saw service with some commenwealth forces until better rifles could be supplemented.
