The Sangamon-class of escort carriers was a class of four carriers utilized by the United States Navy in the Pacific and Atlantic Theater starting in 1942. Adapted from oilers, the carriers could operate around 30 aircraft, mostly dive bombers such as the Grumman F4F Wildcat and the TBF Avenger.
