The St. Louis-class of cruisers were two light cruisers produced by the United States Navy shortly before World War II. A modified version of the Brooklyn-class cruiser, this class featured improved high-pressure boilers, machinery that alternated power between the boiler and engine rooms, and new AA armament, being the first cruisers to have 5-inch/38 cal guns.
