The Sturmkampfgewehr (StKG) was a break-open grenade launcher modification for the standard-issue German Kar98k rifle.

History[]

The Sturmkampfgewehr was an unusual weapon made from a cut-down Kar98k rifle. No official Nazi documentations exist surrounding the weapon, so it is impossible to know for sure what exactly its intended purpose was - although it was most likely a cheap and easy-to-produce anti-armor weapon made towards the end of the war. Copies were made in post-war Norway, and it is near-impossible to determine the Norwegian copies from the legitimate German models, since both variants lack any markings determining the place of manufacture. Multiple StKG rifles were recovered by American forces that captured a German training ground in Hillersleben in 1945, and were taken to the Aberdeen Proving Ground for safekeeping.
