A Map of Turkey
Turkey is a country located partly in southeastern Europe and partly in western Asia. During WWII, it became a member of the Allies in 1945 after remaining neutral for most of the war.[N 1]
History[]
In February 1941, the government of Turkey refused to meet with British Foreign Secretary Anthony Eden, who was touring the Balkans in order to establish an anti-Axis pact.[2] The Turks were convinced to remain netural by the subsequent overrunning of the Balkans by Germany.[3]
