The USS San Jacinto (CVL-30) was was an Independence-class aircraft carrier that served during World War II. It was named after the Battle of San Jacinto. The 41st US President, George H. W. Bush, was known to serve on the USS San Jacinto.

The USS San Jacinto was originally laid down as a light cruiser by the name of Newark (CL-100), but was first converted into an aircraft carrier by the name of Reprisal (CV-30), and then converted into a light aircraft carrier and given the name San Jacinto (CVL-30). San Jacinto was launched on September 26, 1943, and was commissioned on November 15, 1943, with Captain Harold M. Martin in command[1]. After San Jacinto completed its shakedown in the Caribbean, it sailed for the Pacific War Zone, through the Panama Canal.
