This page documents a World War II Wiki guideline. It is a generally accepted standard that editors should follow, though it should be treated with common sense, and occasional exceptions may apply. When editing this page, please ensure that your revision has consensus. When in doubt, discuss your idea on the talk page. |
Original research, or making any conclusions which are not supported or asserted by reliable sources should generally not be included in articles on the World War II wiki. Instead, editors should only include facts which are available directly from reliable sources. There may be very rare circumstances in which original research may be included, although the claim should be reasonably able to be directly inferred from facts mentioned by reliable sources.
Reasons to avoid original research:
- Not as verifiable as claims directly asserted by reliable sources.
- Wiki articles are edited by many people, who do not all share the same point of view, and so including multiple perspectives can easily become confusing and contradictory.
- Greater opportunity to push a particular point of view.
